Digital Storytelling

Digital Storytelling is an awesome way to teach. It helps teach in a very engaging and clear way. I used VoiceThread as it is extremely easy to use, fun to work with, and does really cool things. Below is the link to VoiceThread on the Water Cycle. https://voicethread.com/share/9849496/ Enjoy!

Week 7- Assignment 2

Second Life is an amazing online tool that can be used in the classroom. There are many skills that can be learnt from using Second Life. Teachers can use it in ELA classes, to help students excel in many different areas of ELA. Students can communicate with friends and create groups, which has them working on their writing and reading skills. Students can play around and shop, buy land, and travel the world. Teachers can have students write up a passage about their explorations and achievements on Second Life in order to practice ELA skills.

UDL BOOK BUILDER

Click the following link to view my UDL Book: http://bookbuilder.cast.org/view.php?op=view&book=122611&page=1 For my UDL Book, I used the topic of the White House. I chose to create a UDL Book on this topic since I feel that it interests students very much. Children admire their president, and they find it really cool to learn all about him, and where he lives. They can also relate to this topic since it is their country’s president and they have all heard of or maybe even visited the White House. Showing pictures of the outside and inside of the White House makes the topic realistic to them and interesting. I think that students will be very engaged reading this UDL Book, looking at the pictures, and learning from the coaches. ELA teachers should definitely use UDL Book Builder in their classroom. They can have students create their own UDL Books in groups. Each student can be given a different role in creating the book, such as the writing, images, the various coaches...

Week 6: Response to Articles

The articles were really interesting and informative. I learnt a lot about the topic of integrating technology in the classroom. It is very beneficial to use technology in class, and there are many different and interesting ways to do so. There may be challenges that teachers can face when attempting to integrate technology. They may use it too little, too much, or in ineffective ways. Teachers may be reluctant to use technology if they do not know how to use it well. Therefore, it is a good idea for schools to have courses that help teachers learn all about using technology.

Week 6 Edmodo

I was  really excited  when I discovered Edmodo. It is a fantastic resource for both students and teachers in the classroom. There are many reasons that teachers would want to use Edmodo in their classroom. It gives teachers amazing control over their digital classroom. It allows the teacher to connect the students to the necessary resources and people they need  in order to  learn. Using Edmodo, teachers can easily manage coursework, assign homework, and interact with students. Teachers can post group messages and assignments and track students’ progress. Edmodo ha s  various helpful and useful features for the students and teachers.  First, Edmodo allows teachers to connect with all the teachers in their school. This way, teachers can share ideas with their colleagues. They can learn from  one  another  and improve their coursework as well as how they are using Edmodo. Another great feature is messaging. Using messaging, teachers...

Week 5; Task 2

Assignment #2: Philosophy of Gaming Gaming is very beneficial for both students and teachers. I believe that there are many advantages to gaming: Students- Using games in the classroom helps motivate the students to learning. It also provides great collaboration, and is lots of fun for the students. In addition, it is very easy for students to access games from anywhere, which makes it very convenient. Teachers- Gaming is beneficial for teachers since it increases student motivation. Online games also allow teachers to track students’ progress very easily. It is also a very easy thing to use in the classroom since students can access it through any device.

Week 5; Task 1

Assignment #1: I looked through flowlab.io and I found it really cool. Using this site, students and teachers can create their own educational games. Teachers can track the students’ progress, and it is super easy to set up accounts on the site. I think that this site is very useful since it can be used in many areas; it can be incorporated into many different subjects. Playing games also helps to increase student motivation. In addition, having students create their own games adds a tremendous learning effect. The students come to understand the concept most clearly when they do this. I feel that this site is a tremendous asset to any classroom, and teachers and students should make use of it when learning and teaching.
