For my UDL Book, I used the topic of the White House. I chose to create a UDL Book on this topic since I feel that it interests students very much. Children admire their president, and they find it really cool to learn all about him, and where he lives. They can also relate to this topic since it is their country’s president and they have all heard of or maybe even visited the White House. Showing pictures of the outside and inside of the White House makes the topic realistic to them and interesting. I think that students will be very engaged reading this UDL Book, looking at the pictures, and learning from the coaches.

ELA teachers should definitely use UDL Book Builder in their classroom. They can have students create their own UDL Books in groups. Each student can be given a different role in creating the book, such as the writing, images, the various coaches, etc. This is a great way to differentiate ELA instruction. The students can work on the different ELA skills by creating the book. Students can improve their writing, reading, comprehension, and vocabulary skills by completing a UDL Book.

ELA teachers say that students would love to do a UDL Book as an activity. It makes learning enjoyable, interesting, and motivating. Teachers would need to coach the students and give them clear instructions and procedures so that they can complete the UDL Book as expected of them.

ELA teachers can share the UDL Books that they have created in order to show them to the class as a sample. Students need to see the work modeled for them so that they have a clear picture in their mind of what they need to do. Teachers can also share ideas and learn from each other by viewing each other’s UDL Books.

However, times change, and in the 21 st century technology plays a major role in our lives. In order to ensure that students are well prepared for life beyond school, they need to be given the opportunity to use and explore tech tools. The New Literacies are used to help students learn content, while getting all the gains of using technology. Students learn how to interpret words and images that they come across in tech tools, and they learn to communicate language using multimedia and online programs. St...
